Digipak Spine

This is the spine of 'The Cat Empire' digipak. The spine is a vital part of a digipak. It helps make it considerably easier for people to locate the product when looking.
The spine looks very simple but is effective. The spine has the bands name and the albumn name on it. The spine is colour cooridinated with the rest of the digipak and has the same font. At the bottom of the spine is the music group that represents 'The Cat Empire'. They have this title on the digipak as it is a well known group and they are advertising the company.
For our digipak I think it would be a good idea to have the legal name on our digipak (such as the company that owns our band). I also think we should make our spine quite simple and easy to read however it should match the rest of our digipak and maybe relate to the title of our albumn, 'A long walk Home.

Digipak progress

Toady we met up as a group and discussed the digipak and what its going to feature. As we have already gathered a few ideas from other group meetings we have an idea of what we want. We took many photos of the band members in different places, I think we have chosen not the feature the band on the front cover of our digipak, however we have decided to include many pictures of us together in the inlay.

Inlay Digipak photos

These are the photos we have taken for the inlay of our digipak, the reason why we have taken them on a dull and clear background is because we will be editing the photos on photoshop. An idea that we all like, is placing the image of each band member on the text '28 North'. This is just an idea, however will not be the front of our digipak as from our research we have found out many indie rock bands chose not to have themselves on the front.

Audience Feedback

Questions
1. Does our music video look authentic?
2. Do the visuals fit well with the song? (indie/rock)
    and why?
3. What do you find effective?
4. Do you have any criticism?

We have chosen to use these questions to ask audience members, as we need the feedback for our evaluation. The questions target different areas which will become important and helpful to us. They will help us find out if we have created a video that fits into the target audience.

Digipak Ideas

This image has been edited again with the song names, John edited this by using a combination of photoshop and livetype, we may choose to use this image as the back of our digipak. I like the way the words blend into the image, however I dont think the font is very professional.

To DO

Today we took many shots for our digipak, mainly of the band for the inlay. We have decided to not feature the band members on the front of the digipak but to feature them in a casual way in the inlay. This weekend we will meet as a group to take pictures to feature on the front of our digipak. At the same time we will look for images that we can use for our albumn advert.

Digipak Analysis

Editing Progress

Today we had another assigned editing day to contiue. We managed to fully complete our video, we are currently exporting our video on SD to start with, we are doing this so if we have made any mistakes we can watch it on the big screen to start with, and easily change the bits we need to before we export it onto HD.

Magazine advertisment

Before we create our magazine albumn advertisement I have been looking at examples, this will give me an idea of what we need to feature in our ad, it will also give us inspiration.

This is the basement jaxx advertisement, the image goes with the narrative from the title of the albumn, 'Crazy itch radio'. The advertisement has bright colours that helps it stand out. It is also very short simple and effective. We need to ensure our advertisment catches the audiences eye.

This differs to the Basements Jaxx's advertisment as it has less colour and is not as bright, so it is less likely to attract the audiences eye at first glance, however similar to the Basement Jaxx's the image follows the narrative of the albumn title, with the 'Lungs'.

This is quite a basic ad, its simple and effective like the Basement Jaxx, 5 stars are clearly presented on this ad, this is another way we could use to attract the audiences eye. The stars represent a high class albumn, rated by NME.

DigiPak ideas

I have watched this youtube tutorial on editing colours on photoshop cs3, as I am quite new to this programme I need to get to know the basics of it to ensure our digipack looks the best it possibly can.
